CEMA Reports that overall industry orders (bookings) for the first 6 months of 2020 increased 1.17%.

NAPLES, FL – The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that overall industry orders (bookings) for the first 6 months of 2020 increased 65.44% compared to the same period in 2019, with total orders of $10.51 billion. CEMA estimates industry billed sales (shipments) for the first 6 months of 2020 increased 1.17% compared to the same period in 2019, with total shipments of $8.72 billion.

Unit Handling orders were up 104.73% and shipments were up 6.83%. In the Bulk Conveying area, orders were down 13.20% and shipments were down 15.69%.

CEMA tracks new orders and shipped sales volume in nine classes of unit handling equipment and four classes of bulk handling equipment.

CEMA Vice President, Noel Bell announced the results at the Association’s Virtual Fall Meeting.

The executives representing CEMA member companies who attended the Virtual Fall Meeting expressed concern for the remainder of 2020.  As a result, the forecast for shipments for 2020 will remain flat for the remainder of 2020.
