Monthly Statistics Report News Release

August, 2009

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its August 2009 Booked Orders Index was 99. Index in August is up 13 points or 15% from July 2009's Index of 86 (1990=100). The August 2009 Index represents a decrease of 12% from the August 2008 Index of 112.

August Booked Orders Indexes were 152 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 80 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 108 in August. Index in August represents a decrease of 1% from July 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 109.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 100 in August. Index in August is down 12 points or 11% from July 2009's Index of 112. The August 2009 Index represents a decrease of 35% from the August 2008 Index of 153.

August Billed Sales Indexes were 147 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 89 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 125 in August. Index in August represents a decrease of 3% from July 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 129.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
