Monthly Statistics Report News Release

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its April 2009 Booked Orders Index was 104 down 24 points or a decrease of 19% from March 2009's Index of 128 (1990=100). The April 2009 Index represents a decrease of 25% from the April 2008 Index of 139.

April Booked Orders Indexes were 161 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 84 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 118 in April. Index in April represents a decrease of 2% from March 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 121.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 113 in April. Index in April is down 17 points or 13% from March 2009's Index of 130. The April 2009 Index represents a decrease of 22% from the April 2008 Index of 144.

April Billed Sales Indexes were 164 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 100 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 139 in April. Index in April represents a decrease of 1% from March 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 141.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
