CEMA Reports that 2020 Industry shipments in North America decreased 9.0%

NAPLES, FL – The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that
2020 Industry shipments in North America decreased 9.0%. CEMA estimates that shipments
totaled $15.1 billion for 2020, a decrease of $1.5 billion from 2019 shipments of $16.6 billion.

CEMA estimates that 2020 Industry orders in North America decreased 4.2%. CEMA further
estimates that orders totaled $15.5 billion for 2020, a decrease of $0.8 billion from 2019 orders
of $16.3 billion.

The CEMA membership outpaced the Industry and reports that 2020 orders increased 30.2%
and shipments in North America increased 7.4%.

CEMA member Unit Handling orders were up 43.2% and shipments were up 14.1%. In the Bulk
Conveying area, CEMA member orders were down 9.6% and shipments were down 12.4%.

CEMA President, Noel Bell, announced these results during the Association’s 88th (Virtual) Annual Meeting held earlier this month.

CEMA tracks new orders and shipped sales volume in nine classes of unit handling equipment and four classes of bulk handling equipment.

The executives representing CEMA member companies that attended the annual meeting expressed optimism for 2021 driven by strong late-year (2020) orders and forecasted that shipments will be up by 10% in 2021.
